GhostLight says ONCE will be an exceptional show!
From the very first note, ONCE draws you in and never lets you go. This emotionally captivating musical is the only show to have music that won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Olivier Award and a Tony Award. On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story, underscored by emotionally charged music. Featuring all of the magical songs from the critically acclaimed film, including the Oscar-winning “Falling Slowly,” this achingly beautiful, joyously uplifting show strikes an unforgettable chord in audiences and speaks to the power of music to connect us all. A show like that only comes around Once.
“ONCE is a universal story of finding truth and love in community, and with a cast of 14 actor-musicians bringing it all to life – “it takes a village” could be taken literally.”, says Director Spencer Ryan Diedrick. “The musical ONCE proves that, if you risk your heart and open yourself to life’s possibilities, music can do more than save your life – it might just bring you home.”
The cast of ONCE includes Dan Maxon (Guy/Guitar) and Meghan Pelkey (Girl/Piano) in the leading roles as well as Wesley Shenker (Billy/Guitar), Kelly Collins (Reza/Ex-Girlfriend/Percussion), Jessica Lewis, (Barushka/Guitar/Cajon), Elizabeth Gaspari (Ivonka), Doug Peterson (Da/Eamon/Guitar/Harmonica), Megan Hamel (Andrej/Mandolin/Oboe), Ricky Wallsten (Svec/Guitar/Drums), Burke Lokey (Bank Manager/Guitar/Mandolin/Piano), Ivan Rodriguez (Ensemble/Bass), Tyler Jacobs (Ensemble/Violin), Laura Chaddock (Ensemble/Violin), and Braden Miesse (Emcee/Ensemble/Cello/Cajon). Rounding out the creative team is Paige Mulick, (Choreographer), Josh Weber (Stage Manager), Will Hays (Set/Props Designer), Collin Wagner (Lighting and Sound Design), Beth Ward (Costume Designer), and Kristina McCloskey, (Intimacy Coordinator).
General Manager and Artistic Director Paul Mow said, “We couldn’t be more excited about how our fourth summer season has turned out at The GhostLight Theatre. These particular shows continue to take our audiences on wonderful yet different journeys of exploration, love, humor, heartache and self-awareness.”
