When Walt and Diane Wolshlager launched their new heating and air conditioning business 20 years ago, they set up shop in a small building off of Niles Road and had exactly one employee besides themselves. Nevertheless, their new Five Star Heating & Air Conditioning company built a loyal following and enjoyed considerable success. In fact, as they mark their milestone 20th year in business Five Star has grown to 11 employees and even outgrew their former home and moved to new quarters last year.
For fifteen of those 20 years, the Wolshlagers enjoyed the help of their son Brian Wolshlager and grown to that team of 11 associates at their new and improved shop at 1744 Joni Lane a stone’s throw from Lakeshore High School’s baseball complex and Al Stockman Stadium.
Brian Wolshlager says, “We have enjoyed the journey helping and improving HVAC systems from residential to commercial projects all across the region of Southwest Michigan.” The ride has been good for the employees, as well, as Brian notes, “When the shop first opened we only offered hourly wages with no benefits. Now, we offer retirement benefits and insurance along with a great wage rate.”
Five Star Heating & Air Conditioning is on the move. They have grown 30-percent over the past 3 years alone, and, as Brian puts it, “Our arrow is pointing up!” He adds, “It’s hard to believe how the years have flown buy, but it is equally rewarding to see all the hard work and investments pay off.”
Brian says his HVAC team “Has served Berrien County honestly for the past 20 years, and it has been a privilege as we look forward to the next 20 years of service to the area.”
