Find Your IDEA and Work Twice as Hard

When I told you the amazing story earlier this year of self-made millionaire Psychelia Terry, I had no idea that she would stand before an eclectic group of hard-working women entrepreneurs in the KitchenAid Fairway Club at the 2016 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid. But, there she was today, in all of her glory with great advice for women everywhere who end up having to work twice as hard as a man to achieve in this world.

Fortunately for those in attendance, Psyche (as she is called for short) shared an excellent "IDEA" with each of those entrepreneurs in attendance to help them to advance "twice as far," at the same time as they are working twice as hard.

She related the amazing story of her success in the world of business today after a brief cooking demonstration with Chef Christopher Covelli who can often be found on the Food Network and will go up against Bobby Flay this summer. The two performed an interactive cooking lesson using spiral cut vegetables using the KitchenAid spiralizer tool for the iconic KitchenAid stand mixer.

Psyche's message today was in the form of the acronym IDEA.

The "I' is for Idea Space, where she encourages you to think about what more you want in life and imagine yourself there.
The "D" is to Describe It. Write the vision of what you want on the wall and say it out loud.
The "E" is to Entertain what you are good at, and consider those skills as your base point.
The "A" suggests you Appear! Show up and do it! Begin to refer to yourself as your New Self.

Terry told the women today to share the idea and believe in the idea. She suggested funding the idea and testing the idea, telling the tale of her own credit card acquisitions for early funding and the liquidation of her 401K in order to begin production in China. She encouraged them to find strategic partners and take risks to achieve their dreams.

By telling yourself things like "I want more, I deserve more, and I need more," you advance to the critical point where you make up your mind that you can, in fact, change and begin saying instead, "I can have more, I can get more, and I can achieve more."

By way of example, Mrs. Terry summed up her successes by noting they have hired more than 200 people both at home and abroad, and they are responsible for putting food on the tables of families all over the country. They have also paid substantive taxes to rebuild communities and schools, and given back thousands of dollars in merchandise and money to deserving charities.

Terry invited her audience to follow the success of her companies, Urban Intimates and Urban Hydration, and to produce their own "IDEA" plan on the road to their own success.

Her appearance today was arranged in cooperation with the Women's Business Center and Cornerstone Alliance Small Business Services and Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce. The KitchenAid Fairway Club was a full house for the event today which also included a gourmet luncheon for the participants and the cooking demonstration from Chef Covelli.
