A familiar sign of summer returns to the scene this week with a new twist as Scooter Joe’s gets ready to roll out season number nine in downtown St. Joseph’s central business district.
Joe says, “We’re pretty sure spring is here (though at times one can’t be so sure these days)… so it’s time to launch our 9th season at Scooter Joe’s.”
He’s prepping the site this week with his seasonal building being moved downtown to his long established location at 508 Broad Street at Lake Boulevard. Not only is a freshly coated parking lot awaiting his team this year, but everyone will soon see the nifty new extension to that building to provide some needed protection to his fleet of super popular, family friendly Surrey bikes, beach cruiser bikes, electric bikes and more.
Last season Joe Allen, proprietor of Scooter Joe’s introduced iPads at his sales counter for guests to complete the short rental agreement. He tells me, “That worked so well at reducing time and hassle, it’s now a permanent thing as well as our fully paperless equipment tracking of all our stuff when its out and about. We now have to double our solar power to keep devices charged up all summer, so that’s coming too.”
In Joe’s continuing pursuit of simplicity and cost of business, and to make it super easy for guests to enjoy their visit, he’s introducing simplified pricing and will display that on a giant sized “rack card” right on the front of the building. He says, “It’s strategically designed to take a quick snapshot with your phone for handy reference later.”
As introduced over the last few years, Scooter Joe also offers exclusive kayak and canoe livery right from The Inn at Harbor Shores. You can find him behind the hotel at the end of the parking lot in his waterfront building matching the colors of the hotel. The 13 passenger shuttle with panoramic windows is there to transport your paddle group up river for a leisurely and beautiful paddle down the Paw Paw River through Harbor Shores and the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. No parking hassles, and Joe admits, “No stray golf balls have yet have been a problem.”
This year Joe is expanding his bike fleet, as well. For guests staying at one of his premier hotel & resort partners at The Inn at Harbor Shores or the Holiday Inn Express on Lakeshore Drive, rentals of his lightweight, all aluminum frame beach cruiser bikes can be arranged right at the front desk of either hotel. Guests can even conveniently charge their rentals right to their room accounts. All you have to do is check with the front desk for a quick process, bike helmets and you’re on your way. Keep in mind, too, Scooter Joe can also deliver bikes to beach houses, bed & breakfasts and other venues. Just give them a call.
Joe says, “Our goal continues to be simplicity and offering a unique, fun experience for our guests. Busy parents with families are a special focus, of course, with our Surrey bikes, and groups of up to 11 can ride on a single Surrey — the Triple Bench Stretch Limo. It’s quite a sight and brings lots of laughter.” Joe concludes, “We invite everyone to our website at www.scootjoe.com for more details.”
