Excellence in Education award nominations announced

On Tuesday, March 12, the Berrien RESA Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) will host its 2024 Annual Excellence in Education Award Reception. The event is designed to celebrate the dedicated work of area special education teachers, administrators or volunteers.

From the list of 17 nominees, one person will be announced as the overall award winner during the reception.

The nominees are:

Suzan Gould-Sarabyn, Special Education Teacher
Henry McNeily, First Student Bus Driver

New Buffalo Area Schools
David Kelly, Special Education Coordinator

Niles Community Schools
Teri Bigsby, Special Education Instructional Assistant
Lauren Cornelius, 2nd Grade Teacher
Barb Daniels, Secretary
Kelly Flick, Instructional Assistant

The committee says individuals were nominated from school districts in Berrien County for their contributions to the education and success of students with impairments.

The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is composed of two representatives from each school district in Berrien County. The committee works with Berrien RESA to discuss special education issues and creates an additional link between the Berrien RESA’s services and the local school districts.
