Downtown St. Joseph business Kaiku for sale

Plants, pop-ups, and thrift items store Kaiku in downtown St. Joseph is for sale.

Kelsey and Austin Bock, owners of the location at 402 State Street, posted on social media over the weekend that neither the economics nor time commitments were working out, and it was time to offer the business to someone new.

“Kelsey and I… have experienced some amazing moments, and shared some powerful conversations with so many of you through our time of owning our small shops here in our hometown. Over the years we have seen Bound grow and change, from it being our first shop, to the inception of Lumberjax in its basement, to the addition of A Little Collective, to the addition of our newest shop Kaiku.

“However, due to the past few seasons economically and the commitment it takes to run all of these shops well, it is with a heavy heart, but hopeful expectation that we are putting our newest addition Kaiku up for sale. With all of our endeavors and the addition of 2 lovely, handsome, and energetic boys to our family, we have found that we cannot give Kaiku the love and attention it truly deserves.”

The couple said their hope is that someone will pick up where they leave off, with a majority of the product already in store.  They said the space is ,”100% ready to go and with a few orders more and the right persons’ touch we believe that Kaiku can thrive once more.”

The Bocks added, “Fiscally it makes the most sense for us to step away from Kaiku as quickly as possible and that is why we will close its doors in the first week of April, but if there is any interest we will definitely keep the space up and running until a deal can be set and whoever picks up the reigns has time to get acclimated and ready for the wonderful summer season.”

The couple closed their message by committing to be at their other two local shops and hope to celebrate many more years in downtown St. Joseph.

Interested potential owners are encouraged to get in touch with the Bocks through their social media for pricing details.
