Downtown St. Joseph is about to be abuzz with word that there are new owners taking over the plant and thrift shop Kaiku located at 402 State Street.
Earlier this year, Moody on the Market reported the plant shop/thrift store Kaiku on downtown St. Joseph’s State Street was up for sale. Now, it appears, they’ve found the new owners.
As announced on social media, the new owners are calling their store Honey Bee Hills and they’re planning a greater emphasis on all things plants and less of an emphasis on thrift shop items.
“Thrift will no longer be a part of this sweet little shop but get excited for terrarium bars and workshops. More info to come!”
Current owners Kelsey and Austin Bock announced in March that neither the economics nor time commitments were working out, and it was time to offer the business to someone new.
“With all of our endeavors and the addition of 2 lovely, handsome, and energetic boys to our family, we have found that we cannot give Kaiku the love and attention it truly deserves.”
Now that they have found new owners, the couple thanked “the most thoughtful and wonderful patrons and supporters of small business,” and committed to being at their other two local shops with the hope to celebrate many more years in downtown St. Joseph.
