Benton Harbor

Kalamazoo, Michigan

Best advice you ever got?
“Those Who Care, Don’t Matter. Those Who Matter, Don’t Care. Be You.”
Who inspires you most?
No specifics, any person that is dedicated to improving their lives and seeking understanding.
That one thing about you we’d be most surprised to learn.
I am sometimes not confident in myself, the work I do or the path I am on in life. I overthink myself into situations that I probably shouldn’t be in.
What do you love to do in your downtime?
I enjoy learning, reading, filmmaking, spending time outdoors and with family and friends.
What book are you reading now?
The Handbook for Highly Sensitive People by Mel Collins
Volunteer activity you love the most.
Filming events and capturing memories.
What motivates you to give back to your community?
I can accomplish anything I set my mind on. My mind is set on Benton Harbor being one of the best cities in SWMI thriving in the arts, community engagement and academic achievements.
What Superpower would you most love to have? (for example, the ability to fly or to be invisible, or incredible strength, etc)
I would love to have the power to teleport. I can be wherever, whenever. Who needs to fly or drive when I can set my mind on a destination and be there in seconds?
What would you like to leave behind as your legacy once you are gone?
I want to plant the seed to be authentic. Through media and education, I want to push the narrative that is okay to be human, make mistakes, not be okay and that no matter what life may throw at you, your life is PERFECT in every way.
What does the  honor of being named to the 40 Under 40 most mean to you?
Last year, a few friends of mine made the 40 Under 40 class. I told myself then I would be a part of the next class. The 40 Under 40 class is a local equivalent to the Forbes 30 Under 30. I feel accomplished and appreciated by the people in my community and being named 40 Under 40 will confirm to people that despite by short comings with being so young, God chose my light to shine on my community.
