Road crews will be out in force across the region beginning next week as they prepare to invest more than half-a-million dollars doing crack-sealing work on nearly 100 miles of state trunkline in five counties throughout Michigan’s Great Southwest.
Beginning next Wednesday, May 17th, Michigan Department of Transportation workers are planning $547,000 worth of work along 93-miles in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties as well as work in Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties to the east of us.
The long overdue roadwork will force single-lane closures for construction and traffic will be maintained under flag control along the affected routes. Portions of these roads will get the crack-sealing work between May 17th and June 30th:
- I-94
- I-196
- M-63
- M-60
- M-331
- M-89
Here are project details according to MDOT spokesman Nick Schirripa:
- Southbound I-196 from Coloma Road in Hagar Township, Berrien County, to 24th Street in Covert Township, Van Buren County.
- M-63 from Dozer Drive to Midway Avenue in St. Joseph, Berrien County.
