Cornerstone Small Biz Workshop Series Covers Wide Range of Topics

If there’s one thing that small business owners throughout Michigan’s Great Southwest are learning, it’s that they can rely on the team at Cornerstone Small Business Services and the Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance to provide an amazing array of informational workshops to keep them in the forefront on business intelligence.

The diversity of offerings from both units at Cornerstone is exciting because there is increasingly something in the lineup for everybody. That’s readily evident in the latest round of offerings being teed up in a new Business Workshop Series for August & September, with registration procedures now underway for those who would like to lock in their space for any or all of them. From learning how to become a government vendor to launching a microbrewery…and from dealing with ransomware to succession planning…there’s a lot of ground covered.

Registration for each is required and space is limited, so if you see something on the list you might do well to reserve your space today at the link below. Here are the dates and details for the August-September series:

  • PTAC Orientation August 1, 2017, 2:00-4:00pm, Western Michigan University- Southwest, 2785 E. Napier Avenue, Room 2405, Benton Harbor. Registration deadline is July 25. In this free workshop, participants will learn the requirements to become a government vendor.
  • Ransomware — August 8, 2017, 11:30am-1:00pm, Western Michigan University- Southwest, 2785 E. Napier Avenue, Room 2405, Benton Harbor. Registration deadline is August 1. Workshop fee is $15.00. Ransomware is a dangerous computer threat for businesses and once infected, money is demanded for access.This series will help participants identify and avoid Ransomware from happening.
  • What’s On Tap to Open a Microbrewery — August 10, 2017, 1:00-5:00pm, Hilton Garden Inn, 1300 Cinema Way, Benton Harbor.  Workshop fee is $25.00 and registration deadline is August 3. This workshop will discuss financial, legal and licensing requirements of opening a microbrewery in the State of Michigan. Participants can meet with local microbrewery owners during this workshop.
  • Is Your Business Sustainable? — August 16, 2017, 11:00am-2:00pm, Western Michigan University- Southwest, 2785 E. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor, Room 2405. Workshop fee is $20.00 and registration deadline is August 9. Participants will learn what is involved in keeping their business sustainable including sales forecasting, profitability and proactive management.
  • PTAC Marketing and Research Mining Opportunities — August 16, 2017, 2:00-4:00pm, Western Michigan University-Southwest, 2785 E. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor, Room 2405. Registration deadline is August 9. This is a free workshop and PTAC Orientation is the prerequisite for this class. Participants will learn how to market their business to government agencies and research appropriate prospects.
  • Succession Planning-Preserving Your Business — September 14, 2017, 11:30am-1:00pm, Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce, 811 Ship Street, Suite 303, St. Joseph.  Registration deadline is September 7. Participants will learn tools and strategies to maintain and preserve their business.
