Cornerstone One of Six Economic Development Agencies in Educational Fellowship Program

Cornerstone Alliance was selected to be part of the inaugural Equity in Economic Development Fellowship Program, organized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Six outstanding young people will serve as Fellows at economic development organizations across the country and Canada for a 10-week time span this summer.

Josiah King, who attends Howard University as a sophomore, recently joined Cornerstone Alliance. He will gain important hands-on experience while advancing substantive and impactful projects during his time in Southwest Michigan.

“This program serves a vital purpose in educating a younger generation about the positive impact and opportunities of economic development in every community. The next generation of leaders has new ideas about what they want to have in a community,” said John Janick, Cornerstone Alliance Chairperson. “We are honored to host Josiah as our Fellow this summer at Cornerstone Alliance, and are grateful that the International Economic Development Council chose us to be part of the inaugural program.”

The summer 2022 class of the IEDC Equity in Economic Development Program Fellows include:

“I am extremely excited about the launch of the inaugural IEDC Equity in Economic Development Fellowship Program. Programs like this drive equity and close disparities within the profession of economic development, which will continue to be an area of focus for the IEDC,” said Nathan Ohle, President & CEO of IEDC. “Congratulations to the first class of economic development organizations and fellows!”

“I am so grateful to IEDC for helping me to bring my vision of this program to life. I envisioned a program that would make an equitable impact within the field of economic development while positively influencing the lives of young people. I know that IEDC’s Equity in Economic Development Fellowship Program will do just that,” added Julie Curtin, President of Economic Development Practice at DCI.
