Cornerstone Alliance, the economic development organization for Berrien County, has named Greg King, MPA as its Director of Economic Development. King joins the organization’s Economic Development Department, which is focused on business attraction, retention, and expansion throughout the county. In this role, King will report to Christina Frank, CEcD, Executive Vice President of Cornerstone Alliance. His extensive background in economic development will complement Frank’s expertise in business attraction, creating a dynamic leadership team to advance Berrien County’s economic future, according to a statement from the agency.
With nearly seven years of experience in economic development, King brings a wealth of knowledge in business retention and expansion services. Most recently, he served as Director of Business Development at Greater Muskegon Economic Development (GMED), where he led initiatives to strengthen relationships with local employers, support workforce development, and guide companies through expansion projects. Prior to GMED, King played a vital role at Lakeshore Advantage, where he supported targeted industries and worked closely with communities across Ottawa and Allegan counties to retain and grow primary employment.
“Greg’s proven track record in supporting business growth and fostering strong employer relationships aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Christina Frank, CEcD. “His experience adds tremendous value to our organization as we expand our services across all of Berrien County.”
As Director of Economic Development, King will be dedicated to engaging with the county’s primary employers and businesses in targeted sectors, including metals and machinery, aerospace and aviation, life sciences, and food and beverage manufacturing. His efforts will help ensure the ongoing success and growth of existing businesses in the region.
Frank will continue to focus on site readiness and the attraction of new industries to Berrien County, leveraging her deep knowledge in site development and strategic investment attraction.
With this strengthened team, Cornerstone Alliance believes it is well-positioned to support both existing businesses and new investment across Berrien County—directly aligning with the strategic priorities and reinforcing our commitment to delivering targeted economic development services that foster long-term growth and prosperity throughout the region.
Earlier this week, Cornerstone unveiled its newest Strategic Action Plan, aimed at stepping up the pace of econic development under new Cornerstone President/CEO Marla Scheider, who also joined Cornerstone from the Muskegon region.
