Corewell Health has confirmed some layoffs in its system, although it’s not offering many details.
In a statement to Crain’s Grand Rapids Business, Corewell says it recently made administrative cuts. It says the cuts were in “non-patient facing, administrative roles.” It goes on to say the cuts will “help us continue to provide high-quality care for the long term in a challenging economic environment for health care.”
Reports across social media say about 190 layoffs were made, affecting remote workers who did coding and billing. Some were reportedly in Grand Rapids.
Corewell is Michigan’s largest healthcare provider.
