Corewell celebrates construction of new clinic building in Bridgman

Corewell Health has broken ground on its new Corewell Health Care Center in Bridgman. Representatives gathered at the site along Red Arrow Highway Wednesday to celebrate. The new 10,000 square foot center will be right next to the current Corewell Health Southwestern Medical Primary Care. The building now under construction will replace the current facility. Corewell Health South Director of Primary Care James Savoie told us they’ll be able to offer more services with an updated building.

“First of all, we’re going to replace our family medicine clinic, which is currently in this old building,” Savoie said. “So, they will move into this new building. One of the new things we will be bringing here is X-ray services, and then we’re still working through some other services we might bring to the community as well.”

Savoie said Corewell wanted to remain in Bridgman because it can serve communities to the south and eastward without requiring patients to go to St. Joseph or Niles. Corewell Health Medical Group and Continued Care Services Vice President Melinda Gruber said they’re glad to remain where they are.

“This community has trusted us with their care for many years, and we’re very excited to make the commitment to expand our services and continue to provide great care in this community,” Gruber said.

Corewell’s investment in the facility is $4.78 million. The building will have 18 exam rooms. When it opens in mid-2024, it will replace the current building. From there, some improvements will be made to the old facility, and then a decision will be made on how to use it. The current clinic serves about 18,000 patients per year.
