Following a 10-day shutdown for repairs to the pressurizer system, the larger of two units at the Cook Nuclear Plant at Bridgman was returned to service in the middle of the night and is safely back on the grid.
Indiana Michigan Power reports this morning that the Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 2 was safely returned to service at 1:07 am this morning, Monday, May 11th, after completing repairs to the unit’s pressurizer system.
It was back on Friday, May 1st at 10:59 am that operators at the nuclear plant in Bridgman removed Cook’s Unit 2 reactor from service as a result of a small leak discovered on a pipe in the unit’s pressurizer spray system.
With those repairs complete early today, the plant is back in full service to the grid once again.
The Cook Nuclear Plant is owned and operated by Indiana Michigan Power, headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At full capacity, the 1,084-net MW Unit 1 and 1,194-net MW Unit 2 combined produce enough electricity for more than one and one half million average homes.
