Concrete Patch Work Begins Monday On M-139 in Benton Township

When the Michigan Department of Transportation announced earlier this year that road repairs and rebuilding would take place along portions of M-139, the early response was a veritable hallelujah chorus until many realized that it was all on the stretch from the Scottdale neighborhood at Miners Road southward to Berrien Springs. Lots of folks were discouraged that the roughshod nature of the stretch from I-94 to Main Street in Benton Harbor was not being addressed.

While it doesn’t appear that it will be as comprehensive as the southward makeover, MDOT says that beginning Monday, September 16th, “concrete patching” will take place along M-139 between I-94 and Napier Avenue.

That work in Benton Township will result in lane closures over the next two weeks from Monday the 16th through Monday the 30th of September.

MDOT officials say that traffic will be maintained with a lane-shift, and access to driveways will be maintained throughout the two-week construction phase, so be aware when you are traveling in that neighborhood.
