Concert series to benefit Paws for Humanity

Starting this weekend is a series of concerts to benefit Paws for Humanity, an animal sanctuary in Three Oaks.

Paws for Humanity co-founder Beth Bollenbach tells us there will be three shows as part of the 2024 Summer Concert Series, all to support the sanctuary and its mission. She says Paws for Humanity helps those creatures that your usual animal shelters might not.

“We are sanctuary to animals that fall outside the typical parameters that you’d find in shelters and rescues,” Bollenbach said, “So basically farm animals that are kind of harder to place to find permanent homes for. And our main mission is to provide a forever home and to provide them with whatever level of social interaction they enjoy.”

Paws for Humanity started in 2021, and Bollenbach says having a large property enabled the group to hold benefit concerts outdoors at a time when many people wouldn’t normally go to such events indoors. She calls it a memorable experience to attend an outdoor summer concert.

“It’s pretty special to see alpacas in the background staring at us like we’re the ones in the zoo and having the goats running around in back. So, it’s a pretty serene experience to be out here.”

Bollenbach says all proceeds from the concert series will help Paws for Humanity continue its mission and maintain its facilities.

The first show is this Sunday with the Chicken Dolphin Band. Admission is $12 in advance or $15 at the door and the show starts at 5:30. Doors open at 5. They’ll have a food truck and beverages available.

On August 25 will be a performance by Johnny V, and September 29 will bring a show by Mike Felton and Off the Vine.

Tickets for all three shows are available now.
