The Coloma Glad Peach Festival is this weekend. Festival Board member Jamie Balkin tells us the event celebrates the community’s history of growing peaches. Everything kicks off Friday with the opening ceremonies at 6, the youth parade at 7, and live music. Saturday will be packed with activities.
“Some of our traditional things that have happened for years and years, like the annual parade at 1 p.m. on Saturday and fireworks on Saturday evening at 10:30,” Balkin said.
Balkin says there will also be a cornhole tournament, a drone show, an run and walk, and an art show. There will also be plenty of peaches.
“There is a baking contest, and the winner is revealed at 6 p.m. on Friday. There is a window display contest for downtown businesses. On Saturday afternoon, there is a peach pit spitting contest, and then there is a peach eating contest.”
That’s not to mention peaches for sale all over town. Sunday brings a car show, games, and more music. Everyone’s invited to head to Coloma for a weekend of fun, and of course, peaches. You can find the event schedule right here.
