The city of Coloma has unveiled plans for the new Jean Somers Splash Pad to be located at Randall Park.

The project, which was a result of the master plan in 2021, has received several donations and reached its initial fundraising goal. Speaking Wednesday, Mayor Marsha Hammond thanked the community for making the project happen.

“Every time we have a project and a dream for Randall Park, this community steps up, and thank you for all of that,” Hammond said.

City officials, chamber members, and residents gathered at Randall Park for a ceremony to announce the splash pad. Laura Ginter, the daughter of Jean Somers, spoke about how much this means not only to her and her family.

“A testament to the city of Coloma, the commissioners, and most importantly all of the donors that showed their support right from the start over a year ago,” Ginter said. “It truly shows the amazing community we live in and the impact my mom had here.”

Plans to have an official groundbreaking this fall are being finalized.
