Citadel Planning Tribute To Frank Sinatra

The Citadel Dance & Music is planning a show to honor Ol’ Blue Eyes himself for next month. The Citadel told us more:

“Fly Me to the Moon” will be presented at the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor on September 10th at 8pm. Featured are the Lake Effect Jazz Big Band, Andrew Fisher & Rebecca Selvidge, vocalists, and the Citadel Dance Company. The 8pm show will feature two sets featuring the music of Frank Sinatra. Audience and performers alike will experience a “jazz night club” atmosphere in the Grand Upton Hall. Frank Sinatra was known for creating memories for his audience, young & old alike, from big band numbers like “New York, New York” and ballads like “My Way.”

This fundraiser premiered in 2019 to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the Citadel Dance & Music Center. The Lake Effect Jazz Band is a 22-piece big band led by Steven Reed, a well-known area performer and retired music educator. LEJBB performs over 10 summer concerts and is the headliner at the South Haven Jazz Festival. Andrew Fisher teaches voice at the Citadel, leads the Andrew Fisher Quartet, and performs everything from opera to jazz. Rebecca Selvidge is the newly appointed Director of Choirs/Music Lecturer at Lake Michigan College following her position of Director of Vocal Music with the Coloma Schools. The Citadel Dance Company is Citadel’s premier dance ensemble led by Lari Lawrence-Gist, Director of Dance.
