Ciaravino Ends Five-Week Retirement to Join Berrien Community Foundation

Whoever had 1-19-18 in the “When Will Regina Ciaravino’s Retirement End? Sweepstakes,” your jackpot has come in. There’s no telling how many squares were sold and how many bets were placed, but the unsinkable community buzz-saw has already cashed in her chips and is going back to work.

After her 14 year tenure as Director of Chamber Development and her ensuing role as Philanthropy Officer at Lakeland Health Foundations, the inimitable Regina Ciaravino stepped into “retirement” barely five weeks ago by her own count, and the majority of that time was spent in volunteer roles of various types, so she never really powered down. Now…she’s back in the workforce again, hired on this week by the Berrien Community Foundation.

Ciaravino, who lives in Benton Charter Township, is the new Community Engagement Coordinator for Berrien Community Foundation, where she will work to coordinate volunteer efforts, special projects, and work to establish a women’s giving circle.

Certainly a well-known face, and force, in the community, Regina is active with a number of organizations and committees. She is currently a trustee of the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce and was selected as the Chair of the “Championship Office” for the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship for the past three events.

Lisa Cripps-Downey is President of the Berrien Community Foundation. She says, “We are so excited to have Regina join the Berrien Community Foundation,” and adds, “She brings a wealth of knowledge and boundless energy.”

For friends of Ciaravino, her “back to work” announcement comes as little to no surprise at all, as most were betting there wasn’t even a remote chance that she could sit idly by on the sidelines so long as there was work to be don.
