The Benton Township Board of Trustees on Tuesday will consider the site plan for the Chick-fil-A that developers intend to build on Pipestone Road.
The Benton Township Planning Commission approved the project last week, and Benton Township Supervisor Kathy Yates tells us it’s now the full board’s turn. With approval, the Chick-fil-A can move forward.
“I think it’s a wonderful addition to the businesses that we have,” Yates said. “We’ve never had one in our area like this before. It’s one that’s well-liked around the community because I’ve been getting nothing but positive feedback since the information hit the news, and I’m grateful to our citizens who have reached out to me to let me know that they are happy about that happening.”
The developers are planning to tear down the old Steak ‘n Shake and build the Chick-fil-A on that site. They’ve also purchased property adjacent to the former Steak ‘n Shake to accommodate cars. Yates says they know there will be a perpetual long line waiting outside.
“They want to have double lanes coming in. They want to make sure that they have enough land to accommodate, and they know in the beginning, it’s going to be really, really busy because they do a different kind of business. I understand people will not be pulling into a drive-thru window to pick their items up, but it will be hand delivered to them in their vehicles, which is something different that we’ve never had in our area.”
The developers aim to begin construction in the spring. The Chick-fil-A could open next fall.
