YMCA of Greater Michiana and Corewell Health invite the community to the Hope Grows Open House on Thursday, May 1—a casual, after-work gathering to raise funds and awareness for local cancer survivorship programs. The event will take place from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at 2nd & Main Coffeehouse and Wine Bar, located at 127 E. Main Street in Niles. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, live music, a cash bar, and the premiere of the annual Hope Grows video celebrating the strength of local cancer patients and survivors.
Since 2014, the Hope Grows campaign has raised more than $555,000 to support cancer patients and survivors through Corewell Health South Cancer Services and the ‘LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA’ program.
Last year alone, more than 80 survivors completed LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, while over 250 individuals received critical assistance from Corewell Health South—including access to screenings, transportation, nutrition, wigs, and other supportive services.
“We are proud to partner with Corewell Health to host this event that supports cancer survivors and their families, and raises critical funds for the program and assistance that has such a positive impact on our community,” said Denise Peters, COO at YMCA of Greater Michiana and Hope Grows Board Member. “LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is an empowering program that promotes opportunity for cancer survivors’ physical, emotional, and social health at any stage of survivorship. The Hope Grows event is community coming together to support community.”
Corewell Health Foundation leaders echoed that message of partnership and purpose.
“We are honored to work alongside YMCA of Greater Michiana to support this incredible program and the cancer survivors it serves,” said Soroya Pierre-VanArtsen, President, Corewell Health Foundation Southwest Michigan. “The Hope Grows Open House will provide an opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy live entertainment, and raise funds that will directly benefit those on their journey to recovery.”
