Camp Leo now open for summer registrations

Applications for Camp Leo, an overnight summer camp experience for children, ages 10-17, with developmental disabilities who live in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties are now available! Camp will be held July 30-August 2 at Warner Camp in Grand Junction, Michigan.

Camp Leo, sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Southwest Michigan, is excited to welcome 15 campers this year. Participants will enjoy many activities during the camp. From swimming, roasting marshmallows, canoeing, singing campfire songs, learning outdoor skills and making lifelong friendships, there is fun to be had by everyone! The best part – Camp Leo culminates with a carnival hosted by Lions Club members. Campers play games, win prizes and enjoy carnival-style treats.

To apply for camp, visit www.campleoswmi.com. As part of the online application process, campers will be required to submit contact information for their current and previous teachers. Camp staff will email those individuals a recommendation form to help them determine camp eligibility. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2023.

Camp Leo is designed to be an affordable opportunity for families – $100 per camper. Additional camping expenses have been offset thanks to Lions Club fundraising efforts and generous donations.

For questions about the camp, please contact Beth Helm, Camp Leo Director, at CampLeoDirector@gmail.com.
