If there’s one thing business owners and managers can agree on today it’s that hiring employees–filling empty chairs in the workplace–is one of their major challenges as the economy normalizes from the pandemic. Several dozen of those people came together this week to listen to two experts from a new company offer some advice on how to improve the pool of applicants they’re choosing from to fill those vacancies.
Navaquest is a new affiliate of Mid-West Family–the 60+ year old company of which MoodyOnTheMarket.com is also a part. Navaquest principals Joe Daguanno and Theresa Timm told the gathered business recruiters they need to think of those job openings differently. They need to position those career opportunities as an an attractive product that appeals to a specific, carefully targeted person they want to fill the job. And they shared specific, measurable ways to do that, while still carefully complying with HR guidelines and federal-state regulations that govern hiring practices.
The result of a re-worked, carefully targeted recruiting campaign might be FEWER applicants. But they are the RIGHT applicants. The people employers were actually looking for to fill the position, based on interest, skills, experience and other key factors. Wouldn’t that be a welcome change on your recruiting and hiring efforts?
