Beginning September 1, 2016 Buchanan area residents will have more ready access to the Lakeland Health system thanks to a new affiliation for what has been known for more than 25 years as the Buchanan Family Medical Center.
Founded in 1989 by Dr. Roy Parke, the Buchanan Family Medical Center has become a Lakeland Health Affiliate and sports a new name — Lakeland Family Medicine, Buchanan. While Dr. Parke will retire later this month, current providers from the practice, Derek Henderson, PA-C a Certified Physician's Assistant and Yulia Tkachuk, APRN-BC, a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and many other long-time staff members will continue to see patients at the Buchanan practice. Meanwhile, Lakeland Health will oversee operations of the practice and is currently in the process of recruiting a new physician for the Buchanan community.
Warren White is Vice President of Physician Services for Lakeland Health. He says, “The addition of a family medicine practice in the Buchanan area further supports our mission as a Michigan-based health system to enhance health and serve all members of our community.” He adds, “As an affiliate of Lakeland Health, Lakeland Family Medicine, Buchanan, has the support of a reputable health system, providing the resources needed to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care close to home.”
Lakeland will host a career celebration for patients and members of the community to wish Roy Parke, DO, well on his retirement after 26 years of service on the medical staff. The open house will take place on Thursday, August 25 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Lakeland Family Medicine, Buchanan, located at 1045 East Front Street.
Dr. Parke, an Osteopathic Physician, launched the clinic on September 5, 1989 and the local practice has continuously offered pediatric, geriatric and adult health care, as well as services for family illnesses, minor surgeries and wellness care. They also have routinely hosted specialists who serve other health needs.
