Bronson Opens Cooling Center In South Haven

With temperatures in the mid to high 90s and high humidity this week in southwest Michigan, a cooling center has opened in South Haven. Bronson Healthcare says Bronson Wellness Center has opened its doors during regular business hours as a cooling station Tuesday and Wednesday, and possibly on to Thursday. Anyone living in or visiting the area can come to the club free of charge and cool off in the air conditioned lobby and conference rooms. The club will supply cold water for everyone inside. However, non-members cannot use the fitness areas. The club’s hours are 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. Bronson Wellness Center is located at 950 South Bailey Avenue in South Haven. It can be reached at 269-639-2949. Bronson says the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity is expected to create a dangerous situation where heat illnesses are possible. It is important to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged time outside and in other non-air-conditioned spaces.
