The city of Bridgman has launched a survey to find out what residents want out of its parks.
Bridgman Parks Director Sara Ball tells us work will be taking place all year to update the city’s 5-year Parks and Recreation Plan. She says the plan is needed to ensure the city’s parks are well maintained and can be improved.
“It’s a comprehensive plan that kind of keeps us on track, gives us long-term goals and visions that we want to kind of uphold in the next five years,” Ball said. “The other thing to that is it’s a way for us to apply for state funding grants.”
For example, Ball says recent improvements that were funded with Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grants include the playground at Toth Park and restroom renovations taking place now at the east campground at Weko Beach. Moving forward, she says the city wants to know what else people want.
“Whether that be like pickleball courts or maybe updating the basketball courts, more concerts down at Weko Beach. It could be a variety of different things from implementing something new or even more programming.”
Ball says following the now-online survey, the city will hold public meetings to get input on the parks. After that, it’ll release another survey. The goal is to have a newly-updated parks plan adopted in December of this year.
