Box Factory for the Arts Will Conduct a Holiday Makers Market in December

We are increasingly a community of makers in Michigan’s Great Southwest. The rapid rise of artisans on seemingly every scale is never-ending, and that’s a good thing for all of us. From the Makers Trail that showcases the prolific line up of wine makers, craft brewers and distillers in our midst to the multiple crafts fairs, and even the Mini Maker Faire each year below the bluff, we love to show off what we can do.

Now comes the Box Factory for the Arts with their fun and festive Holiday Makers Market just in time for the vibrant season.

Artists & Makers will be setting up booth spaces throughout Box Factory for the Arts to create that awesome Makers Market in early December, not only to feature exquisite artisan gifts, but to afford guests the opportunity to enjoy great food and drinks, fancy coffee, and live local music. Even cooking demos and other activities will be offered as part of this holiday event, so make plans to grab some friends and join what organizers promise “will be so much more that just a shopping experience.”

The Holiday Makers Market will take place on December 9, 2017 from 10:00am – 5:00pm and December 10, 2017 from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.

Artist/Maker applications will be accepted through November 10, 2017.

For those interested in showcasing their talents and wares, single booth spaces will be approximately 10×10 or 8×12. Due to the configuration of the Box Factory for the Arts, exact dimensions are not guaranteed. Your exhibit space may be located on any of the three levels of the Box Factory for the Arts.

Booth spaces will be assigned at the discretion of the Box Factory for the Arts, and no requests for specific booth spaces will be accepted. Pricing for vendors is $30 per day or $50 for 2 days, and your credit card guarantees your makers space.

Interested vendors should submit application form with photos and price ranges of all crafts to jbingaman@boxfactoryforthearts.org. Box Factory for the Arts strives to maintain a well-balanced selection of unique market items, therefore all types of items you plan to display must be disclosed.

The Selection Committee will immediately review all submissions to ensure they meet quality and pricing standards. All applicants will be notified if they are approved before November 15, 2017 and booth reservations can be made immediately after you are notified that you have been accepted.

Booth fees are due, in full, at the time of your reservation to hold your space. Booth spaces will be filled on a first come/first serve basis.

Set up will take place on Friday, December 8th for Saturday’s showcase from 5pm to 8pm, and on Saturday December 9th from 7am until 9:30am. Tear down on Saturday will run from 5pm until 8pm. Set up for Sunday 12/10 will take place from 9am until 11:30am and tear down immediately follows closure of the market from 5pm until 8pm that same evening.

Makers are responsible for their own set-up and break-down, and organizers ask that you be prepared to store goods and personal belongings within your space or in your vehicle. Exhibitors must supply their own tables, displays, table coverings, and electrical cords.  Additionally, there are no walls or ceilings available for hanging items at the show.

Artists/vendors will have a designated parking area for both days to allow main lot parking for visitors. Take note that all set-up times are firm and vendors will not be allowed to begin set-up outside of those stated times.

Early tear down of your booth is prohibited and will result in a $40 Early Teardown Fee being charged to your credit card. In addition, early teardown may result in a vendor being banned from future Box Factory Makers Market events.

Artists are responsible for processing their own sales, and The Box Factory for the Arts does not collect a commission on exhibitor sales. The Box Factory for the Arts is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

The Box Factory for the Arts will promote the Makers Market at the Box throughout Southwest Michigan. This event is a fundraiser for the Box Factory for the Arts, and they are truly thankful for vendor participation, as it enables the Box to continue to meet their mission of “Nurturing the Arts and Creativity.”

For more information about entering as a vendor, you can contact Jamie Bingaman at jbingaman@boxfactoryforthearts.org or (269)932.2397.
