Body of Man Missing Since Early October Found Near Lawrence

The body of a man who had been missing since visiting the community of Lawrence last fall has been found in the woods nearby some three and a half months later.

Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports 45-year-old Jimmy Green from Parchment was found back on Friday, January 15th after being missing since October 7th.

Green’s body was discovered on Friday in the woods near the Village of Lawrence, and his family was notified shortly thereafter.

Abbott says, “Locating Mr. Green brings to close a 3 1/2-month long search for him, but the investigation into his death continues.” He adds, “Investigators note at this point and time there is no evidence to indicate foul play, but investigators are waiting for pathology results regarding a cause and manner of death.”

Green went missing on October 7th, 2020 from the Village of Lawrence after visiting with friends in the area. Green’s friends report that he had been helping pick up sticks in the yard and walked away without a saying word. He had last been seen on surveillance cameras walking west toward a wooded area on that day.  Green’s body has been taken to the WMed Department of Forensic Pathology in Kalamazoo for an autopsy.  The investigation remains open and ongoing, and Abbott says that anyone with information can contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office at (269) 657-3101, Crime Stoppers 1-800-342-7867, Silent Observer (269) 343-2100 or your local Police Department.
