The Blackbird Waterhouse in Coloma has decided to operate seasonally rather than stay open year-round.
In a social media post over the weekend, owners made the announcement saying it was a tough decision.
“As we reflect on the past 5-years, we’ve been grateful to remain open year-round, weathering challenges like COVID and rising food costs together. However, like many others in our vibrant touristy area, we’re making the tough decision to close our restaurant dining rooms seasonally; we will still be open for private events. Current economic conditions in the slower months have really made it impossible for us to remain open. This was not a decision we took lightly.
“Starting 11/25/2023, we’ll be taking a seasonal break, with plans to reopen announced in Spring 2024. Although our dining rooms will be closed temporarily, we’re still here for the community. You can still book events with us; we have bookings through December and into the winter months and you will still be able to purchase wine through the Aviary wine shop. Private events are a big part of our commitment to staying connected with the community through the winter months.
“During this transition, our hours are changing. Until 11/25, we’ll be open Thursdays – Saturdays from 5 pm to 9 pm. A special note for Thanksgiving on 11/23: we’ll be open from 11 am to 4 pm for pre-order pickups.
“We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to creating memorable moments with you during this season of change. Thank you for being a part of our families local small business journey for the last 5-years! Come in to grab one of your favorites before 11/25!”
