Berrien Springs welcomes first barber shop in 50 years

Refined Barber Co.

Berrien Springs is set to welcome another new business this week as Refined Barber Company officially opens its doors on Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m. at 102 St. Joseph Ave. in Berrien Springs.  Owner Megan Kerlikowske’s passion for hair, specifically barber services have led her to open the barbershop in her hometown.

A ribbon cutting and open house celebration will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9th hosted by the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber. The event will feature food trucks including Jalapeno Grill, Feeling Grazey, Tommy Drive BBQ, and Bair Country Coffee Co., and provide an opportunity to connect with Kerlikowske and her team.

“I love the beauty industry, but it wasn’t until I started working with a straight blade and doing barber services that I really found my calling,” says Kerlikowske. “Berrien Springs hasn’t had a barbershop in over 50 years, once I found the building and began talking with the landlord, I knew this is where I’d open Refined Barber Company.”

Now that the full remodel of the building is complete, Refined Barber Company will offer a full range of barbershop services, including haircuts, designs, shaves, beard trims, and grooming treatments.

Kerlikowske added:  “Our long awaited grand opening open house is this Saturday the 9th.  We are a traditional men’s barbershop with a modern edge. We do basic cuts to bald fades and beard trims all with the straight blade addition. We even offer braiding services!”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Refined Barber Company to Berrien Springs. Megan Kerlikowske’s commitment to high-quality barbering and her investment in her hometown is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit,” said Arthur Havlicek, President & CEO of the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber. “As the first barbershop in Berrien Springs in over 50 years, Refined Barber Company brings a renewed sense of pride and service to our area. We’re excited for the positive impact her business will have on our community and local economy.”
