A Berrien County Sheriff’s deputy has been honored with a Meritorious Service Award for his efforts to catch a shooting suspect in Benton Harbor last month. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says Deputy Christian Campbell was presented with the award on Thursday. It says Campbell displayed “courage, tenacity, and resourcefulness” when he helped apprehend the suspect who had shot and wounded someone in Benton Harbor on February 22. The deputy is also commended for recovering the suspect’s gun and providing aid to the victim after securing the scene. Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey says “Deputy Campbell is recognized for his outstanding effort to apprehend a violent, armed felon under difficult circumstances.”
