The Berrien County Veterans Services Office is planning an event for this month to help veterans learn all about the benefits available to them and how to get them.

Veterans Services Director Maureen Adams tells us Meet the Masters will be on Thursday, May 30. The office will have six veterans who have mastered the benefits system on hand to answer questions at 18 different stations set up at Hidden Pointe Park.

“It’s an 18-hole — and I’m doing air quotes right — benefits course,” Adams said. “It’s going to be at the Hidden Pointe Park in Benton Harbor, and it ends at their event center. We do have food, some door prizes, and music at the end of our 18-hole course.”

They’re calling the stops “holes,” although there will be no actual golf happening. Adams invites all veterans out to meet the masters.

“What they want people to know is if you are struggling to obtain benefits or understand your benefits, if you reach out to the Veterans Service Office, we’re here to help you.”

Adams says there will be swag at each station, food at the “19th hole,” and plenty of opportunities to mingle. Those who plan to attend are asked to register by calling the Berrien County Veterans Services Office, but walk-ins are also welcome.

Meet the Masters will be May 30 at Hidden Pointe Park on Nickerson Avenue in Benton Harbor from 4 to 7 p.m.
