The Berrien County Parks Department will host a scrap tire collection event next week.
The department says on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13, it will take old tires at the Berrien County Road Department office on Napier Avenue in Benton Township from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The collection is for Berrien County residents only, and tires from businesses will not be accepted.
The fee to drop off tires is $1 per passenger tire, and $2 for passenger tires with rims. No oversize tires will be accepted.
Berrien County Environmental Property Manager Jaysen Field says the event is intended to help people rid themselves of unwanted tires at a low cost, adding this is a good way to free up space in the garage or yard.
Those who drop off tires are told to enter the road department facility at the southernmost gate — that’s the third gate from the corner — on Yore Avenue. Just follow the signs.
