Berrien County Sheriff’s Dept Records Lobby Reopens by Appointment

As the world continues to reopen places that have been shuttered since mid-March, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Records Lobby is coming back, but by appointment only, and only at the St. Joseph office, not the one in Niles which will remain closed to public traffic for now.

Berrien County Undersheriff Chuck Heit says that the department’s Records Lobby, located at 919 Port Street in St Joseph will open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY starting on Monday, June 15, 2020.  Individuals will be able to make an appointment for the following services:

  • Firearms Transactions
  • Sex Offender Registry
  • Fingerprinting
  • Report Requests

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office in Niles will remain closed to the public through June 30, 2020 and all appointments will be handled at the St Joseph Office.

If you are requesting an appointment via e-mail, you are asked to please state the reason for the appointment and provide a contact phone number for them to call you.

Available appointment times are on Mondays thru Fridays from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Be advised that prior to being admitted into the building you will need to:

  • Answer some COVID-19 screening questions…
  • Have your temperature taken…
  • Wear a mask while inside the building…

No walk-ins will be accepted. If you show up without an appointment, you will be turned away until you schedule one.
