A 10-year veteran with the Berrien County Road Department has been announced as the new Foreman for the team’s Eau Claire Garage operations. Bob Morris takes on the new role starting next week, in the position that was previously held by Greg Trail, who was promoted last month.
Morris started as a Medium Equipment Operator (MEO) at the Berrien County Road Commission back in October of 2011. In his time at the Road Department in addition to being an MEO, he has filled in as Assistant Foreman and was promoted as Lead Worker of the Eau Claire Garage.
Morris is a Berrien County resident with a wife and four children. He has two grown children, a son and daughter, as well as one son currently attending Indiana University South Bend and on their baseball team, while his youngest son is a three sport athlete at Lakeshore High School.
One of Bob’s fondest achievements in working with the Road Department is the Department’s successful completion of prime and double seal projects. Prime and double seal activities are completed by Road Department maintenance staff. Roads are typically first ground and graveled by a third party contractor to correct structural issues and add structural support. Once gravel additions have been fully compacted, road maintenance staff will shape the roads and work to prime and seal-coat the surface. The seal-coating process works to protect the road and the gravel base. At the end of those projects the road is returned to a hard surface with better structure.
The county says they look forward to Bob Morris overseeing the Eau Claire Garage and that unit’s continued hard work to provide services to Sodus Township, Pipestone Township, Berrien Township, Niles Township and portions of Buchanan Township.
