A series of road projects from the Berrien County Road Department is continuing in parts of the county with some now complete, some nearing completion, and new projects about to get underway beginning next week.
The projects, called “grind and gravel construction projects” typically have resulted in temporary road closures and possible delays for drivers. The full order of projects can be viewed on the Road Department’s website and is updated weekly.
Here’s the current status of the grind and gravel projects this spring:
1) Brown Road between W. East Road to the railroad crossing in Chikaming Township is now fully complete.
2) Wilson Road between Brown Road to the end in Chikaming Township is now fully complete.
3) Locke Road between Union Pier Road to Red Arrow Highway in Chikaming Township has been ground and was slated for gravel application yesterday,Thursday, April 22nd.
4) Old M-60 between Behner Road to the city limits in New Buffalo Township has been ground and is slated for gravel application today, Friday, April 23rd.
5) Freehling Road between Hills Road to Coveney in Oronoko Township has been ground but gravel application is to be determined.
6) Browntown Road between Cleveland Avenue to Holden Road in Baroda Township is slated for grinding operations next Monday, April 26th dependent on weather and contractor availability followed by gravel application on Tuesday.
7) Mill Road between Warren Woods Road to Hanover Road in Weesaw Township is slated for grinding next Tuesday, April 27th with gravel application as yet to be determined.
