Berrien County Cancer Service Marks 75th Year with July 20 Celebration

Berrien County Cancer Service (BCCS) is celebrating its 75th year of serving Berrien County cancer patients with in-home skilled nursing and a resource locker filled with comfort items at no cost to patients or their families.

BCCS 75th anniversary celebration sponsored by Corewell Health is a once-in-a-lifetime event that offers a chance to come together with friends, family, and community members to celebrate the organization’s rich history and achievements. Not only will you have the opportunity to learn about BCCS past, but you’ll also be able to connect with others who share a passion and dedication. Plus, there will be food, drinks, and entertainment to enjoy.

So, mark your calendar for Thursday, July 20, 2023 and join the fun at Andrews University Performing Arts Center! Doors open at 5:00 for a standing reception with appetizers.  Then the concert begins promptly at 6:00pm, tickets are $15. If you are a cancer survivor contact BCCS for free tickets.

The concert will feature All God’s Children Choir.  Internationally acclaimed soprano Elizabeth Pacheco Rose will perform selections from the Sound of Music. Elizabeth Pacheco Rose is a northern Virginia native.  She studied at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for her doctoral work. Previous to this she lived in Italy where she studied and performed throughout Europe. She was awarded a Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Illinois, Urbana and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She is a Visiting Professor of Voice at Wake Forest University and she is a colorectal cancer survivor

There will be a luminary portion of the show where people can purchase a luminary in memory of a lost loved one for $10 to light just before the concert begins.  There are 200 luminaries to purchase.  There will be silent and live auction items available, including a 100+ year old quilt for the quilt auction.

Several companies are sponsoring this event including Wolf Financial Advisory, Andrews University, ServPro of Berrien County, Sturgis Bank, Stephen Ross & Company PC and United Federal Credit Union.

The Berrien County Cancer Service (BCCS) has been making a difference in the lives of people with cancer since 1948.  Its mission is to provide compassionate in-home skilled nursing care and supportive resources for those affected by cancer or related illnesses in Southwest Michigan. All services are at no cost to the patients served.

BCCS is a local organization that is not affiliated with any national or state organization. BCCS services are made possible thanks to United Way of Southwest Michigan, various fund-raisers throughout the year, and generous contributions and memorials from the community.
