Tell us the story behind the nominated company. What does it do, and what sets them apart from other companies in the region?
Berecz & Associates, PLC is a family law firm that provides litigation, mediation, and collaborative process services. We do things differently here by staying family-focused and try to reach a meaningful settlement for our clients who are experiencing a major transition in their lives.
In your own words, why do you think this company deserves to be declared to be one of the 20 Best Places to Work in Michigan’s Great Southwest?
This office is entirely client-focused, but also provides a healthy working environment for the attorneys and staff. It is fun to come here every day and that is entirely because of the environment Deb has fostered. She spent the time creating a spa-like atmosphere when you walk in the door and goes above and beyond to respect our personal life and work life. She also encourages us to participate in trainings and share our life’s achievements and joys. This mentality makes a hard job enjoyable.
What makes workers proud to say they work there, and keeps them a part of the team?
We provide a quality service that actually helps families stay a family even after a marriage has ended.

Deb will ask us weekly what our wins are and we celebrate together. We also set quarterly goals that are celebrated if achieved. We will occasionally grab appetizers after work, attend a concert together in the summer, run/walk in Lory’s Place 5k, etc.
What one thing is special about your nominated company that most people in the community have no idea actually happens there, but should be shouted from the rooftops because it’s that cool?

Anything else you’d like to mention about this company, its leadership, etc?
Deb has truly poured her heart and soul into her firm. She has a lot to be proud of and a lot to be celebrated for. For her work in divorce cases – to provide a healthier alternative to our traditional litigated route. And for her work in adoption and custody cases to ensure children are being protected and loved. She has created a great place to work and is an inspiring individual to work for. We are truly grateful to have her as a boss and are lucky to get to work here for her.
