Benton Harbor Arts District Hosts Spring Art Hop

Hop into Spring with the first New Territory Arts Association Art Hop of the year. Mingle and see what artists in the Benton Harbor Arts District have been up to lately.  New works of art, artisan jewelry, handblown glass, and crafts will be on display in multiple venues, including:

  • Water Street Glassworks
  • Aveline
  • The Phoenix Coffeeshop
  • The OutCenter
  • 3 Pillars Music
  • Anna Russo-Sieber Gallery
  • The Collective
  • The Livery
  • and more!

Live music at select venues and refreshments will be served. They all hope to see you in person.

Here are the Must-See Spring Art Hop stops including:

  • Water Street Glassworks: Stop by Water Street Glassworks to celebrate the arrival of Spring. Enjoy glassblowing demos, refreshments and choose from an array of Spring items created exclusively for Art Hop. Water Street Glassworks and the OutCenter are excited to be collaborating on a special demo piece you won’t want to miss. The gallery will be blooming with fresh glassy flowers, rainbow themed vessels, limited edition fused pieces created in collaboration with the OutCenter, and glass art that celebrates the arrival of the new season. Plus, you can choose from an array of beer mugs and vessels created by their talented team of glassblowers for your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Your purchase supports WSG programming.
  • Benton Harbor Public Library: The Library will display artwork by Nicole Pierard-D’Herde and Christian J Webster, both students of local artist David Baker. Enjoy snacks and beverages while viewing art in the 2nd floor community room.
  • 210 ARTSpace: A Benton Harbor Arts District staple…join 210 Art Space during the NTAA Spring Art Hop. Explore this unique space, mingle with the artists in their studios and enjoy light refreshments.
  • ARS Gallery: ARS Gallery has a new exhibition, “All You Need is Love: A Faculty Exhibit.” A diverse exhibition with pieces by the gallery’s teaching artists. During Art Hop they will have live painting, small bites, and refreshments.
  • The Phoenix Coffeeshop: The Phoenix Coffeeshop will be serving food and drinks and featuring live music from the Friday Night Acoustic Jam, featuring Billy and Aiden Schnell. Several artists will have work on display including:
    • “Just Plain Calina”, with live poured acrylic paintings.
    • “Simply Rona’s Originals”, Rona Randle, with jewelry and all kinds of crafts.
    • “Bouquets Decor and More”, Latasha Thomas, with home decor items.
  • Oak Room at the Citadel: On March 15th, as part of the NTAA Spring Art Hop, The Oak Room at the Citadel will be hosting The Coastline Children’s Film Festival CCFF showing of The Young Filmmaker Competition at 5:30 pm then starting at 7 pm two silent films “A Dog’s Life” and “The Adventurer” with Dr. Larry Shanker accommodating on piano. Films are free with a suggested donation.
  • Hawk’s Nest: Another stop during the NTAA Spring Art Hop, the Hawks Nest will feature quilling artist Miranda Skibbe of M’s Jemz and painter Patrick Adam Wills Culby. As always live music and refreshments will be served…lots of booze!
  • The Livery: Make plans to stop by The Livery for the Spring Art Hop After-Party with the sensational Michigan-based Progressive Soul quintet, Earth Radio, recently voted “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the WYCE Jammie Awards. 9 PM – Pay What You Want, as Earth Radio takes the stage. A unique collective of musicians that are pushing the boundaries of soul music to a new level. Based in Grand Rapids, the Future Soul quintet has been hard at work recording music, playing live shows, and writing new original material day by day. Hannah Laine (lead vox, piano), Justin Avdek(bass, vox), Dutcher Snedeker (keys), Travis Swanson (guitar), and Hayaman Mana Tzach (drums) have all gained their own respective place as successful musicians in the West Michigan music community and are coming together to blend their unique styles of music to create a musical powerhouse oozing with fat drum beats, funky bass lines, smooth guitar runs, nasty synth sounds, and uniquely soulful vocals that sound like they belong deep in the outer reaches of space time.
