There’s good news for those raising funds for the replacement of aging playground equipment at Silver Beach County Park. Berrien Community Foundation will match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000 to replace the Silver Beach Playground equipment when the community contributes that amount in donations.
BCF launched this community challenge to help Berrien County secure the local funds needed to claim an $850,000 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Spark Grant to help replace the existing play structure with a new, inclusive and accessible playground at Silver Beach County Park. The current play structure at Silver Beach was built in 1991 and is surrounded by sand.
The new playground will be inclusive and accessible to children and families of all abilities, with innovative elements to encourage movement, spinning and climbing. There will also be tactile, visual and auditory experiences; structures with graduated levels of physical play; cozy spots for sensory relief; and shade canopies.
BCF is working with Berrien County Parks to hold the fund for the project. Donations can be made directly to Berrien County or online through the community foundation by clicking the “Donate Now!” button below.
