Double digit sales increases were the norm for carmakers in May. Only a handful of brands still give out monthly sales results. But, AutoTrader analyst Michelle Krebs says all of those numbers were very strong.
“We’ve seen Toyota snap its losing streak, that’s a big headline,” says Krebs. “They had been in the doldrums largely because they had inventory shortages. Honda surged again, and Hyundai and Kia posted big gains as well.”
Ford has not yet reported May sales numbers. The two other Detroit carmakers only report their sales on a quarterly basis.
