Ask anyone spending quarantine time alone what’s the worst part about it all, and the frequent major concern is the stark loneliness of the situation. Fortunately, the folks at the Region IV Area Agency on Aging are working to remedy that through the launch of a new outreach program to contact the elderly who may find themselves alone at home with little to no outside contact.
As the Area Agency on Aging continues to help those seeking critical services through their info-line, they also know there are area seniors who may just need someone to talk to so they do not feel isolated or alone. In response, the organization has initiated the Area Agency on Aging Friendly Caller Program.
The new program is open to any senior who would like to connect with a friendly person to talk to while sheltering in place during the COVID 19 pandemic. During the calls the hope is to provide reassurance, help connect seniors to information regarding services they may need, and mostly, make sure they are not feeling lonely or isolated. Seniors who would like to participate are encouraged to call (269) 408-4332 to speak to an Area Agency on Aging staff member.
The Area Agency on Aging Info-Line also remains open and fully staffed with Aging and Disability experts ready to answer questions and connect people to resources. They are asking anyone in need of person-specific aging and disability to visit online at the link below:
