The 51st annual Four Flags Apple Festival is underway in Niles, with some crisp fall air to go along with crisp apples and fun around every corner.
Founded in 1972, the Apple Festival features carnival rides, games, food, craft vendors, a beard and mustache contest, nightly entertainment and, of course, apples.
A free apple will be given to all guests, and the festival has just about any apple product you can think of from pies to cider and everything in between. There’s an apple pie eating competition, an apple seed popping contest, and an apple peeling contest. If it has to do with apples, it’s at the apple festival.
