The team that brought you such fun as Dueling Pianos, Karaoke Nights, Taco Tuesdays, Wing Wednesdays and a ton of other great food and fun is hoping you will help them lock up some great things for Berrien Springs students next Thursday evening in a unique and cool new fundraiser to benefit Backpacks for Berrien at AJ’s Uptown Bar & Grill.
My friend, Realtor Cassondra Rudlaff from Coastline Realty Group in Berrien Springs, says that she’s working with Roger Johnson from AJs, who contracted Chris Wagner from Outcast Metal Concepts, also in Berrien Springs, for creation of large metal letters and a giant heart backed by a metal, mesh, grid which have been erected on the exterior wall of Uptown Pizza Company.
Roger also had an array of aluminum cutouts crafted in the shapes of hearts, shamrocks and rectangles which Backpacks for Berrien has dubbed “keychains.” The plan is to hook those “keychains” into a small padlock, customize them with markers or engraving, and then lock them into place on the gridwork backing of the letters and the heart.
Next Thursday evening from 4pm until 7pm, everyone is invited to purchase the “keychains” for $5, personalize them with markers or an engraver, and them add your own padlock for placement onto the letters with all proceeds going to benefit the Backpacks for Berrien project which is designed to help feed students in need on the weekends when there otherwise might be no meal as provided at school, and also provide school supplies in the fall.
You’ll find AJ’s Uptown Bar & Grill and Uptown Pizza Company at 102 E. Ferry Street in downtown Berrien Springs.
