A whole lot of Hoopla is about to get started in the Panera Bread Plaza of St. Joseph Charter Township. A Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt Shop will open this summer in the same complex with Panera, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Five Guys Burgers and Fries and others. The new shop is destined for 3260 Niles Road in St. Joseph and will feature a multitude of flavors in a booming complex right off Interstate 94.
Greg Collins represents Trigo Hospitality, owners of the busy building and he says the Panera Bread shop located there and Moe’s Southwest Grill are reportedly among the the busiest locations that his company owns and operates in the entire region.
Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt lets you build your own premium frozen yogurt sundae with fresh fruit and other decadent toppings, with dozens of options and a multitude of flavors. It would appear that the St. Joe Hoopla! will be the 13th location for the company which currently has 11 sites throughout the state of New York and one in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
From Candy Bar Smash to Cherry Amareto, Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt shops feature a broad array of offerings with other such names as Caribbean Colada, Spiced Apple Pie, Dreamy Dark Chocolate, Tahitian Vanilla, and Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Bun. They have a brand commitment to “24 Flavors and so much more,” and say that a majority of their flavors are gluten free, and all are certified Kosher. They use real dairy, fresh milk, real fruit purees and cut-fresh fruit daily. All sorts of “bottoms” and “toppings” are also on the menu.
Each Hoopla! shop also offers up Hoopla! Helps! a fundraising mechanism that allows local groups to raise funds through a certain percentage of sales going to authorized groups that successfully complete an application for a project.
Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt will be a major attraction to that busy center, and Collins is working with several organizations to make the center even more welcoming with an iconic postcard mural that will include images from the region including the lighthouse, the beaches, the carousel, the fountain and other destination attractions. His company is exploring potential artists to create the mural on the broad side of the building facing the intersection of Niles and Hollywood Roads near the Tesla charging stations anchored there.
Collins has reached out to a number of potential muralists and key members of the art community including Julia Gourley at the Krasl and Anna Russo Sieber at ARS Gallery in Benton Harbor for professional insights and expertise, in hopes of having a high level of realism in a piece designed to be “an impressive image representing the area.” He is also looking for partners to help fund the project financially in the community-minded project.
Collins is also talking with St. Joseph Today for assistance in getting the imagery necessary for a first class work of art in that mural. Anybody interested in helping make the ultra-realistic mural welcoming visitors and residents alike to the community of Michigan’s Great Southwest a reality can reach out to Greg Collins through his e-mail at this address: gcollins@trigohospitality.com
