In the early days of Spring, with crisp, fresh air and fragrant surroundings, we welcome new life and new beginnings. March leads us through the last of the cold, dreary days, and welcomes sunlight-filled afternoons, instilling us with an invigorated sense of purpose. With the urge to dust off the heavy remnants of winter, BCM Organizing in Southwest Michigan is ready to guide you through decluttering your living space and your life, so you can spend more time focusing on what matters.
“We change with the seasons,” says Becky Martin of BCM Organizing. “We change our outfits and shoes with the weather outside, so our environment indoors should be included as well. Use the space you have to make your house a home – if you can dream it, we can do it.”
In-home organizing, decluttering, and sorting can seem like monumental tasks if you don’t know where to begin, but Becky does. Becky has helped multiple happy clients reorganize single rooms, closets, and entire homes, and she is excited to help you! A certified professional organizer, and with an eye for design, Becky delights in working at your pace, taking time to learn about you and your goals for each project.
“Life happens,” says Becky. “Sometimes it gets in the way of cleaning and organizing, but you don’t have to do this alone. I am here to help you clear the clutter and love your space.”
BCM Organizing is not a cleaning company, it’s a lifestyle company. What Becky can do for you is so much more than wielding a mop and bucket; she acts as a guide, an explorer, a teacher of life skills that you will learn easily, and continue to use forever. The tasks you wish to accomplish bring her excitement and intrigue, and you will work together, side by side, to ensure the process works for you. Though if you’d rather be hands off with the organizing process, Becky is happy to handle the entire project for you.
“Your paperwork and marketing and the whole process is very professional. My wife told me she enjoyed working with you and didn’t feel judged at all,” a previous client of BCM Organizing says. “You will find a friend in Becky as she helps you. She brings comfort.”
After your initial thirty minute phone consultation, Becky arrives armed with knowledge and enthusiasm, and the desire to help you reach your goals with intention and creativity. “We will start with what you have,” Becky says. “We won’t need to go out and spend money on expensive organizing bins. Often, the client already owns the decor and design elements they wish to incorporate in their home, it just takes an outsider’s perspective to offer a new view and a fresh look.”
In the age of constant scrolling, we find ourselves watching home organization videos with envy, mesmerized by the order among the chaos of our lives. But you can have that! It is absolutely understandable to be overwhelmed by the size of the project, or simply lack the motivation to get started: that’s where BCM Organizing comes in. There are so many different methods of organizing, like the Home Edit method (organizing items into bins), the Marie Kondo method (does this item spark joy?), and processes like the Rainbow method (color-coding the clothes in your closet). Becky will visit each one to find the approach best suited to your lifestyle.
“I want you to have a sense of pride in your home”, Becky says. “Just because the room is clean doesn’t mean it’s presentable. You should love each space you have.”
Your mental health is directly linked to the space in which you live. Stop and think about it for a moment, and ask yourself: How do I want to live my life? What makes me happy? “Even if you can see past the clutter, you still know it’s there,” says Becky. “It’s always in the back of your mind. The state of your home becomes stressful, and you don’t entertain or have guests over anymore. We can get caught up in ‘it is what it is’, but it doesn’t have to be. I can help!”
The kitchen is the most used room in your home, and coincidentally, one of Becky’s favorite projects to tackle. “I love to cook, and eat, and you can learn so much about a person by what spices they use, their favorite foods, if they love baking. Creating an environment that will be well-utilized, at least three times a day, is very exciting to me,” Becky says.
This new, local business strives to help others while helping you, like suggesting keeping donations of your unwanted items local. Empty rooms shouldn’t become dumping grounds for items you no longer use, and someone in need will find new life in your donations. A 30-Day Spring Cleaning Challenge is a great way to start the process! From April 1st to April 30th, donate one item per day, to ‘feel a bit lighter this spring.’ With the non-profit organization network SWMI has, like Harbor Country Mission in Bridgman and Mosaic Resale Store in Benton Harbor, organizing your life can benefit those around you. Follow BCM Organizing on Instagram and Facebook, as Becky leads you to achieving this new goal.
Becky transplanted to Southwest Michigan from Chicago in the fall of 2021, and was immediately captivated by the charm of our area. Her previous work in Project Management, building trade shows and delving into the world of design aesthetic, reinforced her passion for organizing and planning. “Creating organized, functional, beautiful environments for others gives me a sense of purpose,” Becky says. “I fell in love with Michigan, and knew this was the perfect place to open my business.”
Sessions with BCM Organizing differ from project to project. Each session begins with a three hour time slot, and generally lasts three to five hours. Becky does not set deadlines for your tasks, instead she works at your pace, giving you complete control over how each undertaking is finished. There are multiple price packages available, as no two jobs are the same. Huge projects can take multiple sessions, and the package that suits your needs best will be decided together. Along with sorting, organizing, and decluttering, BCM Organizing also offers services for clients that are moving, including: pre-move decluttering, occupied home staging, space planning for your new home, unpacking, and organizing.
“I want to truly help people accomplish their goals and needs,” Becky says. “My great design aesthetic and strong ability to plan allows me to be able to picture the goal from the client’s perspective. We can make a real and permanent impact in your life.”
