Stay & Obey Moving to New Digs

After eight years at their current site, Lisa Antonini's Stay & Obey business is packing up lock, stock and puppy chow and headed to a whole new center barely five minutes away. The new home of Stay & Obey was designed specifically with dogs in mind, and Antonini is pumped up to show things off in an upcoming Open House.

Stay & Obey is currently in the 6600 block of Red Arrow Highway and the new site is a short jaunt away on N. Roosevelt Road a stone's throw from Santaniello's Glenlord Pizzeria.

Lisa, who is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, completed her Master Trainers Course at the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers in Columbus, Ohio. That organization is world renowned and highly regarded as a leader in the fields of dog training, behavior modification and trainer education. She is also a member of National K-9's Graduate Association and an Associate member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, which is the group of dog experts recommended by Cesar Milan, star of National Geographic Channel's "The Dog Whisperer."

She tells me that her new 8,700 square foot Stay & Obey center located at 4316 N. Roosevelt Road in Stevensville features an expanded, climate-controlled, indoor play area with a matted floor, two securely fenced outdoor areas, a grooming & spa area, a training room, overnight accommodations and a large retail lobby.

The new facility will host an Open House for owners and their dogs to explore the new facility on Saturday, November 19th from 10am until 2pm, with raffle prizes, snacks & beverages provided.

Lisa founded Stay & Obey eight years ago and has been ensconced at 6671 Red Arrow Highway since the beginning. In 2009 when daycare services were added to the list of offerings, Lisa's husband Chris Broecker joined the staff as Chief Dog Wrangler Extraordinaire, running the daycare division.

Lisa's mission is and always has been to offer assistance and education to owners and their canine kids in order to become happy healthy families through communication. She believes that learning never stops and she regularly attends seminars, workshops and conferences, staying educated on new theories and technologies in dog training.

She has professional certification in multiple disciplines including:

  • Basic and Advanced Obedience
  • Tracking
  • Personal Protection
  • Police K-9
  • Behavior Modification
  • Scent Detection
  • Utility
  • Puppy Development
  • Assistance Dogs
  • Retrieval
  • AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluation

In addition to running Stay & Obey Training & Daycare, Lisa regularly volunteers at the Humane Society of SW Michigan as well as with Animal Aid, Save-A-Stray and Best Friends 4H. Her passion is helping owners learn to communicate with their dogs, leading to a happier life for everyone. She says, "I believe all dogs can benefit from some sort of training. We send our children to kindergarten, elementary school, high school and then college; why not send our four-legged kids to school, too?"

Stay & Obey offers dog daycare, boarding, grooming, retail and certified professional training for behavior modification, aggression, food possession and many other issues with adult dogs and puppies. They offer Puppy Preschool, Group classes, Private lessons, in-home sessions and training residencies.

You can reach Lisa and the crew by phone at 269-465-OBEY or 269-465-6239.
