Power in Motion has now been in business for over 15 years starting with a handful of students and two coaches. They now have over 50 instructors/coaches , a 33,000 square foot facility, and service over 1600 children in the surrounding area. They offer a multitude of classes and competitive teams, which include, gymnastics, cheer, dance, ninja, tumbling, and free flyers. They offer a variety of classes that can build self esteem, hard work, core strength, team work and most of all how to have fun. The Staff is fun, exciting, and structured in every class, or event setting. They give kids something to look forward to each week. What sets this organization apart from others is the positive, fun, family environment then have created.
In your own words, why do you think this company deserves to be declared to be one of the 20 Best Places to Work in Michigan’s Great Southwest?
Power in Motion not only cares about the community that it supports but their employees and their families as well. They are continuing to grow and build exciting programs for families in the community. They offer flexible employment opportunities from part-time to full-time that cater toward each employee’s personal needs, professional goals and strengths. Jobs a PIM are very rewarding. Employees aren’t “just teaching gymnastics”, they are making a difference in kids’ lives. The company culture is fueled by passion and dedication to improving children’s lives. They aren’t just building athletes, they are building up self-esteem, determination, and discipline.

The love and support that they give for each and every employee is amazing. You’re not just an employee, you’re part of the family. They accept feedback from all levels, not just management. Power In Motion is a fun exciting place for kids of all ages. They offer a clean and safe environment for ages18 months on up for a variety of interests including gymnastics, cheer, dance, and ninja classes and events. Power In Motion, not only teaches skills that will improve your child as an athlete, such coordination, strength, flexibility, and determination, but they also provide a positive, fun, learning environment that helps your child grow socially as well. The staff cares for each and every student and strives to create a fun, engaging learning environment.

As a Best Places to Work company “Super Hero,” what are the two most magical “Super Powers” this company seems to have on a day-to-day basis? (i.e., Ability to read minds, fly, invisibility, etc) And why?
– Flying- We are jumping, tumbling and twirling and teaching kids how to fly too.
– Ability to transform – into a friend, mentor, gymnast, superhero, ring leader & whatever other silly hats the kids need us to be on that day.

A] Keep spirits and motivation high? Employees feel appreciated through constant encouragement and recognition. Employees feel heard and part of the team.
B] Keep innovation and fresh ideas advancing? Department Leaders meet weekly to discuss classes, students, events & policies. They problem solve and talk about how to make things better for our customers and the organization.
C] Keep communications open? Department Leaders meet weekly to discuss classes, students, events & policies and feedback. Each staff meets monthly with their department leader to discuss classes and feedback. In addition to these meetings, they hold company wide staff workshops regularly to educate and brainstorm as a large group. Management is very welcoming and happy to hear new thoughts and ideas from staff at all levels.

The second large expansion in 15 years. In the companies 15 year history they have had 2 large expansions and have grown from a small facility with 2 employees to a 33,000 square foot facility with over 50 employees.

B] How does the nominated company socialize as a team? Power In Motion holds annual holiday parties, pool parties and other staff outings throughout the year.
C] How does the nominated company get involved in community events? They are participating in the Blossomtime Parade and the Berrien County Youth Fair to help engage with the community. They also host free community events including an annual open house with games and activities and an annual easter egg hunt.
D] How does the nominated company celebrate life? They celebrate life through fun events and outings where even the staff gets to play and feel like a kid.
What one thing is special about your nominated company that most people in the community have no idea actually happens there, but should be shouted from the rooftops because it’s that cool?
Power in Motion is continuing to improve and grow through workshops and new ideas. Each and every staff is an equal part of the team. Employment opportunities are flexible and range from part time a couple of hours a week to full time positions.
